- Dakar Rally to conclude on 14 January at the Formula 1 circuit
Hero MotoSports Team Rally has secured another podium finish at the Dakar Rally 2022. This is the second podium for the team at the ongoing rally. Joaquim Rodrigues finished the 501km long Stage 11 in the third position. Previously, Rodrigues had won the Stage Three of the Dakar Rally 2022. His teammate, Aaron Maré, on the other hand, had a difficult stage. A navigation error cost him some time while and a landing mistake caused a sprain on his back and on his ankle. He finished the stage in the 25th position.
Sherco Factory riders Lorenzo Santolino and Harith Noah Koitha Veettil took 17th and 18th positions in Stage 11 while their teammate, Rui Gonçalves came 36th.
Stage 11 of the Dakar Rally 2022, which concluded on 13 January, featured some of the most difficult navigational challenges so far. It was a 500km long loop around Bisha, with a timed special of 345km. The stage, which started with sandy tracks inside wadis and winding canyons, made navigation difficult due to the innumerable tracks and crossings within plateaus.
The teams will now participate in the last and final challenge from Dakar 2022 – a 679km ride from Bisha to Jeddah, with a special section of 163km. The last stage of the rally will end at the new Formula 1 circuit in Jeddah.
