- Hero sells 1,83,044 units in May 2021
- Sales were severely hit due to the lockdown
Hero MotoCorp sold 1,83,044 units of two-wheelers in May 2021, as against 1,12,682 units in the corresponding month last year. While domestic sales stood at 1,59,561 units, exports were recorded at 23,483 units.
Similar to all other brands, Hero’s sales were severely affected due to the COVID-19 lockdown in most parts of India. The company had suspended production across its facilities starting 22 April. As the lockdown started easing up, it began single shift operations at three of its facilities located in Gurugram, Haridwar, and Dharuhera on 17 May. This was followed by the resumption of operations at its three other facilities – Neemrana, Halol, and Chittoor on 24 May. Hero plans to start double-shift production soon as things get close to normalcy.
In order to ensure social distancing, Hero has introduced digital tools for sales and after-sales services. In April, the company rolled out various services on WhatsApp. Through the messaging platform, customers can now purchase Hero two-wheelers, schedule maintenance services, request a brochure, and view virtual showrooms.
