- Will be powered by removable batteries
- Unveil scheduled for October 7
- Likely to benefit from Hero’s partnership with Gogoro
Hero MotoCorp is set to unveil the Vida electric scooter on October 7 and has released another teaser on its social media handles. It reveals that the Vida e-scooter will get portable batteries and you can charge it anywhere, be it your house, office, parking lots, or public chargers.
While further details of the Vida electric scooter are scarce, we expect it to be highly focused on the utility aspect and an aggressive price tag to undercut the rivals. India's premium electric two-wheeler market only has a handful of brands like Ather, TVS, Revolt and Bajaj. So, the Vida will have a few foes to tussle with.
Hero MotoCorp also has its ties with Taiwanese manufacturer, Gogoro. It deals in electric scooters with swappable batteries in Taiwan. So it could be lucrative for Hero to leverage the partner brand’s expertise for its upcoming scooter. And with a removable battery unit, it gets convenient for users to charge it at their home and not spend extra money on setting up a separate connection.
Hero also has a partnership with Bharat Petroleum where the brand could set up its fast charging stations/battery swapping stations. That said, the Vida e-scooter is likely to be limited to city usage and could bed priced at around Rs 1 lakh.
