- India launch scheduled on 15 March
- To compete in the 100cc segment of the Indian market
- Teaser hints that it could be launched under the Honda CB Shine brand
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India will update its portfolio with a new 100cc Hero Splendor rival on 15 March, 2023. While the company has remained tight-lipped about the details of this motorcycle, the official teaser videos have given some hints about this upcoming product.
The launch invitation, for example, associates this product with a ‘shining future’, thus hinting that this motorcycle could arrive under the CB Shine brand. The Honda CB Shine is currently the second highest-selling product in Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s portfolio. Another teaser video gave a glimpse of the design of this upcoming 100cc motorcycle. The styling cues, as seen in the teaser video, comprised a bold headlamp with a bikini fairing, a wide and pulled-back handlebar, a single-piece seat, and a side-slung exhaust. In fact, the styling looked similar to that of the 125cc CB Shine.
The company aims to introduce this product at an aggressive price tag and thus we expect to see budget-friendly hardware. The base versions will most likely use drum brakes on both wheels, while a disc brake could be offered on the more premium variant. The safety net, similar to the competition, should include a combined braking system. Meanwhile, the suspension setup will consists of telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs.
The details about the mechanical specifications are not available yet. However, it is safe to assume that this motorcycle will arrive with a 100cc motor with a single-cylinder, air-cooled layout. We expect the power and torque output figures to be similar to its direct rival, the Hero Splendor. This upcoming Honda commuter could make close to 8bhp of maximum output and 8Nm of peak torque.
Once launched, this motorcycle will rival the Hero Splendor, TVS Radeon, and Bajaj Platina in the Indian market.
