- To offer new, budget-friendly commuter
- New model likely to sit below CD110 Deluxe
- Launch details unavailable yet
Honda 2Wheelers India is working on a new, low-end motorcycle, as confirmed by the company in its press statement. The details about this new motorcycle are scarce, however, the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer said that this product “will bring a safer & reliable daily commute for its customers.” The company added in its press statement that the entry-level motorcycle category continues to have a significant share in total two-wheelers sales in India.
Speaking about the development, Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, that the company plans to enter the low-end motorcycle segment while boosting its new fun models’ business in domestic markets. Honda 2Wheeler India’s current entry-level product is the CD110 Deluxe which competes in the 100-110cc segment with ex-showroom (Delhi) prices starting from Rs 66,033.
The details about the engine displacement for this new model are limited. However, we may see the same 109.51cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor from the CD110 Deluxe on the new motorcycle. The hardware, too, will be most likely basic, and the upcoming motorcycle will use telescopic front forks, twin rear springs, and drum brakes on both ends with the safety net of combined braking system.
Honda 2Wheelers India has remained tight-lipped about the launch details. We may see this new motorcycle in our market towards the end of 2022, most likely around the festive season.
