- Africa Twin 850 might be under development
- Could be called CRF850L
There’s a new rumour in the fraternity, and this time it comes from Japan. Honda might be working on a smaller Africa Twin. This model could debut in the super-hot 850cc ADV segment and could be called the CRF850L.
Currently, Honda has the CRF1000L Africa Twin on sale, and this model is likely to be upgraded to a bigger displacement this year. This will help it taken on the bigger ADV models. So when this happens, it makes sense to have a new model, particularly in the 850cc arena as there are plenty of motorcycles in this segment. There’s the BMW F850GS, the KTM 790 Adventure R and the upcoming Yamaha Tenere 700.
The middleweight adventure segment sells well worldwide as the bikes are more accessible, thanks to the size and also the pricing. So Honda would definitely want to have a piece of this cake, and if these rumours turn out to be true, we can see something this EICMA, maybe a concept model.
