Honda has announced production of the EV-Cub, with plans for the bike to hit the market within the next two years. Once launched in Japan, Honda will offer the EV-Cub for sale in additional Asian territories. Which means, sometime in future, we may see this bike in India.
The retro-styled EV-Cub pays tribute to the original Super Cub.
The moped is designed for short urban commute and comes with a battery which is removable and can be taken elsewhere for remote charging.
Although set for a rollout in Japan only at first, it seems as though the announcement of the production of the EV-Cub couldn't come at a better time for the Asian market, following the rapid rise of road users in Japan creating a huge increase in CO2 emissions from non-electric vehicles, namely two wheelers. Honda President and Chief Executive, Takahiro Hachigo said that they will strive to popularise the EV and reduce CO2 emissions.
Following on from the announcement of the EV-Cub entering production, it also looks likely we will soon see the Honda Goldwing receive an update too, read more about that here.
