- Engine has been updated to produce around 1bhp more
- Produces 41bhp at 13,000rpm
- Remains unchanged in all other areas
Honda has updated its quarter-litre sportbike, the CBR250RR, for 2024 in Malaysia. The motorcycle has received changes in its engine and a minor bump in power output while remaining unchanged in all other areas.
Powering the motorcycle is a 249cc, twin-cylinder mill that produces 41bhp at 13,000rpm which is an increment of around 1bhp. The torque output continues to be the same at 25Nm which arrives at 11,000rpm. This has been achieved by reducing the combustion volume from 7.5cc to 7cc which has aided in increasing the compression ratio from 12.1:1 to 12.5:1. The intake port diameter has also been increased from 21.4mm to 21.6mm which has mainly helped make the engine response smoother. Transmission duties continue to be handled by a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch accompanied by a quick shifter.
The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels that are suspended by 37mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by a single hydraulic disc brake at both ends with dual-channel ABS. All the information is displayed on a unique-looking, blue backlit LCD dash while the entire lighting setup is LED. Boasting a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 litres, the kerb weight of the motorcycle sits at 189kg.
Honda might never launch the CBR250RR in India because it will be an expensive proposition from our price-sensitive market. However, in other news, it is expected to disrupt the adventure touring segment by launching one or more motorcycles from its 300cc line-up including CRF300L, CRF300L Rally, and Sahara 300.
