- Patent design registered in India
- It could be launched this year
- Powered by a 649cc inline four-cylinder engine
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has now patented the CBR650R design in India. The registration document has now been leaked online and here is what we know about the Japanese sportsbike.
The 2024 Honda CBR650R was unveiled last year in the international market and the bike received a few changes. Its design is made to appear sharper and more aerodynamic than before. The split LED headlight has been topped by a transparent visor. The bike gets proper sportsbike characteristics including clip-on handles, rear-set footpegs, and a split seat.
Powering the 2024 Honda CBR650R is a 649cc inline four-cylinder engine that makes 94bhp and 62.3Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. On the electronics front, the CBR gets full LED illumination, traction control, ABS, and a TFT with smartphone connectivity.
Its hardware too is fairly premium. The list comprises 41mm Showa Separate Function- Big Piston front forks and a 10-step adjustable rear shock. Its braking hardware includes dual 310mm front discs and a single 240mm rear unit. These are mounted on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear tyres.
Honda has currently only registered the design patent of the CBR650R. We think it could be launched in India this year. But it won’t be a surprise if the bike doesn’t debut here and is just patented for the sake of it.
