- Official unveil could take place next month
- To be launched first in China
- India launch unlikely
Pictures of Honda’s upcoming, small-size café-racer have surfaced on the internet ahead of its official debut. Dubbed the CGX 150, it is expected to be unveiled next month followed by its arrival at dealerships around early 2025. In the initial phase, the motorcycle is expected to be launched only in China by Honda’s Chinese arm, Wuyang-Honda. It might enter other markets at a later stage.
The Honda CGX 150 will be available in three variants including a café-racer and two roadsters with slightly different styling. The café-racer trim boasts some interesting elements like bar-end mirrors, a red frame, a red seat, a cowl in place of a pillion seat, and a swanky blue and white colour combination. Surprisingly, it also gets cross-spoke wheels, unlike the other two trims which incorporate conventional spoke wheels. The roadster variants look much simpler with traditional mirrors, a flat and long seat, a single-tone paint scheme, and regular spoke wheels.
All the variants have the same technical specifications. The CGX is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces close to 12bhp and has a rated top speed of 98kmph. Underpinned by a single-cradle frame, it rides on 17-inch wheels with telescopic forks and dual springs while braking is handled by a single disc at both ends with single-channel ABS. Typical of a 150cc motorcycle, it is pretty light at just 128kg (kerb).
As interesting as the Honda CGX 150 looks on paper, it’s equally unlikely to hit the Indian shores because Honda hasn’t been experimenting much with its portfolio and a small café-racer might not be relevant for the Indian market.
