- Honda CL300 scrambler unveiled
- Gets bigger wheels
- Based on the famous Rebel 300
Honda has taken the wraps off a cool new motorcycle – the CL300. This motorcycle has just been unveiled in China and will target buyers who want more fun off-road than on-road.
The CL300 is based on the famous Rebel 300 – a cruiser platform. The Japanese brand has done a lot of work to make it more potent off-road. Firstly, the small 16-inch wheels have been thrown out for a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear. The sub-frame is new that allows the bike to have a taller stance. The fuel tank has been redesigned to make it look more rugged. Along with this change, Honda has given the CL300 a new single-piece long scrambler seat. The high-mounted exhaust design has been borrowed from its elder sibling – the CL500.
In terms of performance, the Honda CL300 makes 25.7bhp of peak power, which gives it a top speed of around 125kmph. The motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. However, it still needs to be clarified if the company has altered the gear ratios for the CL300. Honda is offering the CL300 in two variants – standard and premium. The premium model gets all the bells and whistles. It is loaded with a headlight cowl, a raised front mudguard, and side number board and hand guards.
The prices of the Honda CL300 are yet to be out in China, but we are expecting it to be decently priced. A motorcycle like the CL300 makes perfect sense for a market like India, but unfortunately, the Rebel brand isn’t sold here. So the CL300 won’t make it to India anytime soon. Honda could use its CB350 platform to make something like this, but the brand would instead focus on segments that will bring in good sales volumes.
