- Honda unveils the CT125 scrambler-styled moped
- Based on the Super Cub 125 production model
- Production model is expected to be introduced next year
Honda has showcased an interesting scrambler-styled moped concept, the CT125, at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. It is based on the bike maker’s Super Cub 125 production model which was unveiled in June last year.
While the overall silhouette of the CT125 depicts a conventional moped, a host of elements lend it a scrambler appeal. Besides the high-set exhaust, which is the most noticeable aspect of its styling, the CT125 also features an off-set single pod instrument cluster, braced handlebar and handlebar-mounted turn indicators. The single-piece rider’s seat is joined by a rugged-looking and spacious luggage rack in place of the pillion seat.
The CT125’s intention to take on rough terrain is also portrayed by the set of hardware it features. The moped is equipped with spoke wheels which are shod with dual-purpose tyres, as opposed to the alloy wheels and road tyres present on the Super Cub. Moreover, the front fender is also a shorter unit and the telescopic suspension at the front incorporate fork gaiters. Braking is handled by discs at both ends assisted by a single-channel ABS. In terms of engine, the CT125 is powered by a 124cc motor which churns out 9.38bhp and 10.4Nm on the Super Cub.
Honda will surely debut the production model of the CT125, perhaps sometime next year. However, it is not yet confirmed which markets it will be launched in. As for the Indian market, the moped is unlikely to come to our shores any time soon.
