Honda has unveiled a special edition model of its premium touring motorcycle, the GL1800 Gold Wing. Priced at GBP 19,321 (Rs 19.06 lakh), the special edition commemorates the 40th anniversary of the iconic touring motorcycle.
Mechanically, the 40th anniversary edition is identical to the regular GL1800 Gold Wing. The special edition motorcycle gets the ‘40th anniversary’ badging with a pair of wings on the fairing, box lid, key. The emblem is also embossed on the pillion seat. It will be available in a new two-tone candy prominence red/graphite black scheme, with a blacked-out chassis. Besides this new paint scheme, the Gold Wing is also available in black, white and metallic silver.
The GL1800 Gold Wing is powered by a massive 1832cc flat-six engine which churns out 116bhp and 167Nm of torque. The liquid-cooled engine is shaft driven and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
First introduced in 1975 as the GL1000 with a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, the Gold Wing has earned a good reputation as a premium touring motorcycle. The Gold Wing has evolved over these years and the GL1800 is currently one of the most luxurious two-wheelers in the market.
