- Likely to rival the Hero Splendor
- To be focused on the mass market and affordability
- India launch soon
Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) is reportedly working on a new commuter motorcycle. It’s likely to be targeted at the 100cc segment and here’s what you should know about it.
Considering the Hero Splendor has consistently bagged high volume sales in the 100cc segment, the upcoming Honda commuter has a set rival in its crosshair. So, it’s likely to boast a frugal motor, light but trusty build with a comfortable suspension setup to go the distance. An attractive price tag too is also expected since the bike will be focused on the mass market.
Honda India has the CD 110 Dream and the Livo as its smallest motorcycle offerings. Both bikes house a 109.51cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor and are priced at Rs 70,315 for the CD 110 and Rs 75,002 (both ex-showroom Delhi) for the Livo. So, the new 100cc bike is likely to undercut the said pricing too.
That said, the Honda Activa range has contributed massively to the company’s sales. It tops the sales chart and is the most sold scooter in India. Last but not least, the Japanese manufacturer is also working on its upcoming electric scooter for the country. The design patent was recently filed, revealing some essential details as well.
