The French media is reporting that Honda has a big media event planned on June 11, where the company might unveil the final production model of the RC213V-S. First unveiled as a concept along with the True Adventure prototype at the 2014 EICMA Show, the RC213V-S is an eagerly anticipated road legal motorcycle which has been derived from the Japanese manufacturer’s MotoGP machine.
Powered by a 1.0-litre V4 engine, the RC213V-S is akin to the company’s MotoGP prototype in many ways. The electronics and the suspension have been carried over from the MotoGP bike, and even the construction of the components used in the two motorcycles are very similar.
However, the dry clutch from the MotoGP bike has been replaced with a wet clutch to improve its longevity, while the noise levels of the exhaust have been brought down to acceptable levels. Though Honda has refused to divulge any technical details, power is expected to be north of the 200 horsepower mark.
Earlier reports have indicated that the RC213V-S might sport a six-digit price tag. Irrespective of what its price tag might be, the RC213V-S is sure to become a highly sought-after motorcycle, thanks to the bike’s exclusivity and its rich heritage.
