- Features a 125ccs single-cylinder engine
- Gets sporty and youthful and styling
- Currently available in the international market only
Honda India has filed a new scooter design patent recently. It is for the NX125 that the Japanese automaker offers in the international market and here is what we know about it.
The Honda NX125 as seen here, gets a properly sporty and youthful design. Its front end comprises a split LED headlight setup mounted in the apron. Then, the overall bodywork including the side panels, and the rear profile too get sharp cuts and creases overall. It is equivalent to the made-in-India Dio 125 but for the foreign market.
Powering the NX125 is a 125cc single-cylinder engine that belts 8.7bhp at 7,500rpm and 9.7Nm. The motor is linked to a CVT setup. The NX125’s hardware comprises telescopic front forks and a single rear spring. The brakes include a front disc and rear drum brake mounted on alloy wheels.
While Honda has patented the NX125 in India, it is unlikely to launch anytime. The brand currently has two 125cc scooters on sale – the Dio 125 and the Activa 125. While the Dio 125 caters to slightly younger buyers like college goers or first-time buyers, the Activa has been a household name and has an even wider audience. It fits the purpose for youngsters, office-goers, or even slightly older ones and is also the primary vehicle for some.
The only reason that Honda would debut a new 125cc scooter is if it wants to take on the TVS Ntorq 125 as it offers higher power figures and relatively more features. Moreover, brands more often than not file design patents just for the sake of it and to reserve the said design even with no intent of any future use.
