- Honda planning more models
- Will compete with Royal Enfield
- CB500X didn’t sell much to price tag
Honda is planning to introduce more motorcycles in the 350cc and up space in the coming years. The company wants to continue fighting with the segment leader – Royal Enfield.
According to a report, one of the top honchos of the company said sooner or later, there will be more models in the mid CC segment (350cc-500cc). The number of motorcycles in this segment is likely to increase year by year. Currently, the Japanese brand sells two 350cc motorcycles – the CB350 and the CB350RS and one in the 500cc – CB 500X. While the 350cc range had a good start in the beginning, the CB500X failed to entice the market with its expensive price tag.
If the company really wants to make a big difference in the 350cc-500cc categories, then it needs to launch great products but with a competitive price tag. Honda has shown that it will price out some motorcycles they plan to sell in India, but we believe that strategy will not work in the country, as Indian buyers still look for value in the middleweight segment.
