Honda has announced a 5 per cent growth in sales, driven by the good demand for two-wheelers in the festive season. With sales of over 5.69 lakh two-wheelers in September 2017, the company has cemented its position as the country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
Apart from the 5.69 lakh two-wheelers sold in the domestic market, Honda exported 32,110 two-wheelers to its global markets in the last month. This number is 9 per cent higher than what the company had managed in September 2016. This is the second time that Honda’s cumulative sales number for the domestic market and exports has breached the 6 lakh units’ milestone in this year.
The Activa 4G continues to be the highest selling model in the company’s line-up, while the CB Shine is the top-selling motorcycle. During Dussehra, Honda broke its personal record by selling 1 lakh two-wheelers in a single dat. With one more month remaining in the festive season, we can expect Honda to maintain its momentum. This should make up for the drop in sales during demonetisation and the move to BS IV emission norms.
