- New e-clutch system automatically shifts gear
- Clutch lever can be manually operated as well
- Honda will use this tech on existing fun motorcycles
Honda is taking motorcycling to a whole new level. The company has just announced an e-clutch technology for motorcycles, which the company claims is the world’s first.
According to the Japanese brand, this new e-clutch system uses electronic control technology to provide instantaneous, fine-tuned clutch control for optimum performance when the driving force changes. These changes come from starting, shifting gears, and stopping. Interestingly, there will be a clutch lever that can be operated normally when the bike is being ridden.
The idea behind this technology is for the rider to focus more on the joy of riding and less on operating the motorcycle. This new system is claimed to be lightweight and compact and can be installed on existing engine layouts. Honda will likely equip its existing range of fun motorcycles with e-clutch over a period.
