- New CB500F showcased in India
- Displayed at Bigwing Bangalore
- May launch in India
Honda India has decided to showcase a new motorcycle to Indian customers. The brand has placed oneCB500F at its Bangalore BigWing Dealerships.
This is the first time the Japanese brand is doing something like this. The dealer has been contacting its customers to visit the showroom to see the motorcycle. Honda could be gauging the response to this motorcycle and could launch it in India.
The Honda CB500 is powered by a 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine with 47bhp at 8600rpm and 43Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox and also sports slip and assist. In terms of other hardware, the bike gets 41mm Showa Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks at the front and a rear mono-shock to handle the suspension tasks. The braking duties are now handled by twin discs at the front instead of a single rotor setup on the previous CB500F. The anchoring hardware at the rear continues to use a single disc.
The CB500F shares the underpinnings with the CB500X – a sports tourer that was on sale in India. However, it soon went off the line-up as the motorcycle didn’t get the kind of response Honda was expecting. We hope to see the CB500F in India but with a practical price tag.
