- New Honda ADV 160 teased
- Successor to the existing ADV 150
Honda has teased the arrival of its new adventure-style scooter, the ADV 160, for the international markets. The scooter will certainly replace the ongoing ADV150 adventure scooter and will make its way to markets like Japan and Indonesia, before entering other markets. However, the chances of the scooter entering the Indian shores are slim at the moment.
The teaser released by Honda gives a slight glimpse of the design of the scooter. The front end of the scooter seems to be occupied by an extremely tall windscreen, and a vertically-stacked angular LED headlamp nestling in a muscular front apron. At the rear, there appears to be a stepped single-piece seat accommodated by a long tail section. The scooter will clearly retain the design philosophy of the existing ADV150, albeit in a slightly different form.
In all probability, the ADV 160 will share its powerplant with the new PCX 160 and Vario 160 scooters that are already on sale in certain markets. These offerings are powered by a 157cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that gets four valves and churns out 15.5bhp at 8,500rpm and 15Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Online reports also suggest that the scooter will incorporate Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system.
Now, although the ADV 160 might not make it to India anytime soon, the buyers here can still go for the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SXR 160 which are sporty maxi-scooters.
