Honda is about to add 250 sales touch points in this financial year. With this, the company will have a network of 5,700 sales touch points across the country.
The number of Honda sales touch points in India stood at 5,200 at the start of this financial year, and the company has already added 250 more to this number since April 2017. 70 per cent of the new touch points will be added in rural areas where the company sees a lot of potential for its motorcycles and scooters. While the company enjoys more than 50 per cent share in the scooter segment, the sales of motorcycles has also been increasing steadily. The company is planning to launch a new motorcycle in the current financial year to bolster its motorcycle sales numbers. Depending upon the market demand, the scooter plant in Gujarat can be upgraded to also roll out motorcycles.
Overall, Honda enjoys a 30 per cent market share in the domestic two-wheeler market, and the number has been rising rapidly. It plans to overtake Hero MotoCorp as the number one two-wheeler manufacturer in the country by 2020.
