Honda has been working on its upcoming ADV, the Transalp 800. Its test mule has been spotted and other details of the bike have also been leaked over the last few months. Here’s what we know so far.
Design
The recently leaked test mule images make the Honda Transalp 800’s design look neat. Its fascia looks similar to the CB500X while the bodywork resembles the Africa Twin. But considering the visual mass, it seems that the Transalp 800 will be more road-oriented than off-road. The test mule looked ready for production and was draped in HRC colours.
Engine
While the exact details are unclear at the moment, Honda will probably plonk an 800cc twin-cylinder motor in the Transalp. It could be the same unit that the upcoming Hornet will benefit from. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware
The Transalp 800 will ride on USD front forks and a monoshock setup while the braking hardware comprises twin petal discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. It’ll get dual-channel ABS. The test mule seems to be equipped with 21-inch spoked wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.
Price and expected launch timeline
Honda is likely to unveil the bike at EICMA 2022 followed by its launch in India next year. You can expect it to be priced at around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
