- New CL500 scrambler unveiled at 2022 EICMA
- Unlikely to come to India anytime soon
Honda has expanded its 500cc portfolio by unveiling the new CL500 scrambler at the ongoing 2022 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Now, the company’s 500cc family has five motorcycles in total, the other four being the Rebel 500 cruiser, the CB500F street bike, the CBR500R sportbike, and the CB500X adventure tourer which is sold in India.
The design of the CL500 is pretty off-beat with the most conspicuous element being the bulky, high-set exhaust canister with an aluminium-finished shield. In contrast, the front looks simpler and minimalistic with a small round headlamp and a compact fuel tank with an exposed frame which resembles the Rebel. The list of features includes full-LED lighting, a fully-digital instrument cluster, and dual-channel ABS.
Powering the motorcycle is a 471cc, parallel-twin engine that has been tuned slightly differently than its siblings for better low-end performance. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, this unit churns out around 46.5bhp and 43.4Nm of peak torque. The hardware package comprises a 19-17-inch alloy wheel combination with 41mm telescopic forks and preload-adjustable dual springs. Braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends.
In the international markets, the Honda CL500 will go on sale soon but it’s unlikely to come to India anytime soon.
