- Likely to be launched under the Honda CB Shine brand
- To rival the Hero Splendor in the Indian market
- India launch scheduled on 15 March, 2023
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has released the third teaser video of its upcoming Hero Splendor rival ahead of its launch later this week. The Indian arm of the Japanese manufacturer will launch this 100cc commuter motorcycle in our market on 15 March, 2023.
While the company has not revealed the name of the product, the launch invitation associates this product with a ‘shining future’, thus making us believe that it could be introduced under the CB Shine brand. Do note that the Honda CB Shine is currently the second highest-selling product in Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s portfolio.
The previous teaser gave a glimpse of the design of this upcoming commuter motorcycle. The styling cues revealed in the previous teaser video comprised a bold headlamp with a bikini fairing, a wide and pulled-back handlebar, a single-piece seat, and a side-slung exhaust.
The company aims to introduce this product at an aggressive price tag, and thus, we expect the base versions to use drum brakes on both wheels. Meanwhile, a disc brake could be offered on the more premium variant. The safety net, similar to the competition, should include a combined braking system. The suspension duties would be performed by telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs.
The details about the mechanical specifications are not available yet. However, considering the teaser videos, it is safe to assume that this motorcycle will arrive with a 100cc motor. It will feature a single-cylinder, air-cooled layout, and we expect the power and torque output figures to be similar to its direct rival, the Hero Splendor. The 100cc commuter from Hero MotoCorp, for reference, makes 7.91bhp and 8.05Nm.
Apart from the Hero Splendor, this new Honda 100cc commuter motorcycle will rival the likes of the TVS Radeon and Bajaj Platina in the Indian market.
