- 2024 CBR400R unveiled
- Gets traction control and a TFT screen
- To reach Japanese showrooms in March
Honda has taken the wraps off the 2024 edition of its small-size sportbike, the CBR400R, in Japan. The motorcycle will be officially launched on 21 March in the company’s homeland. In terms of body style and displacement, the CBR400R competes against the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the new Aprilia RS 457.
The biggest change comes in the form of the inclusion of the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system which, essentially, is traction control. It is aimed at making the bike safer for new riders in slippery situations. The CBR400R has also been equipped with a new five-inch TFT console accompanied by Bluetooth connectivity. Once connected to the rider’s smartphone through the Honda Roadsync application, the new TFT screen allows handling music playback and answering calls.
Minor changes have also been executed to the design of the motorcycle by giving some nip and tuck to its headlamp section and tail lamp and adding winglets similar to the CBR1000RR-R. Lastly, the weight of the bike has gone down to 191kg, a reduction of 1kg. The rest of the aspects of the CBR400R remain the same as its predecessor. Powering the bike is a 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that churns out 45.4bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 38Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox which is accompanied by an assist and slipper clutch.
The 2024 Honda CBR400R will be available in red and black colour options with a price tag of 863,500 Yen (approximately Rs. 4.77 lakh).
