- Could leverage support from its existing subsidiaries for EVs
- Aims to bring its flex-fuel tech to India
- Has already had success with flex-fuel in Brazil
Apart from its plans to introduce a new low-end motorcycle, Honda India has also revealed its future plans for the EV market. Not just that, the Japanese bikemaker has also expressed interest in introducing the flex-fuel tech in India.
Speaking of the foray into the Indian EV market, Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said that the brand has plans to introduce multiple models and leverage support from its existing subsidiaries. As of now, Honda India is in the feasibility-study stage and is working on the EV eco-system development for the country.
Moreover, Honda already has quite some data and a successful run in Brazil with its flex-fuel technology. And given the skyrocketing fuel prices, it plans to launch the flex-fuel motorcycles here as well. As of now, Honda has the CG 160 Titan that runs on both petrol and ethanol, in Brazil.
No timelines or other information has been released yet. But we believe it won’t be a very long wait before the Japanese bikemaker acts on the aforementioned segment for our market.
