- Honda Vario 160 special edition launched in Malaysia
- Adorned with MotoGP-inspired Repsol livery
- Mechanically remains the same as the standard model
Honda has bestowed its 160cc sporty scooter, the Vario 160, with a special edition livery for the Malaysian market. This version of the scooter takes visual inspiration from Honda’s MotoGP motorcycles in the form of Repsol Edition graphics. This decal set is a swanky combination of orange, white, black and red stripes running across its front fender and side panels which beautifully complement the sporty aesthetics of the Vario 160.
The Vario 160 Repsol Edition is the same as the standard version on all other fronts. The entire bodywork of the scooter is dominated by sharp and angular lines, front the front to the rear. There’s a sinister-looking LED headlamp along with eyebrow-like DRLs. At the rear, a sleek tail ends into a pointed tail lamp with a chunky grab rail. It’s equally modern on the feature front with goodies like a keyless ignition system, an anti-theft alarm, a digital console, a USB charger, full-LED lighting, and 18-litres of underseat storage for added convenience.
Moving on to the mechanical specifications, the Vario comes powered by a 160cc engine that churns out 15bhp and 13.4Nm. In comparison, the Yamaha Aerox 155 produces similar numbers with marginally higher torque. As for its hardware, the Honda Vario comes with telescopic forks up front and a single-sided shock at the rear. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels that are shod with chunky 90/80 section and 100/80 section tyres while braking is taken care of by a single disc at both ends.
As much as we want the Vario 160 to come to India, Honda doesn’t seem to have plans to bring it to our shores anytime soon. However, the Japanese brand recently updated its scooter portfolio by launching the new Dio 125 which starts from Rs. 83,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
