Rajasthan-based Hop Electric has launched its latest electric motorcycle, the OXO. It’s available in two variants: standard and X. The base model costs Rs 1.25 lakh and the X retails at Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom with FAME II subsidy). Let’s take a look at all the other two-wheelers you can buy for a similar asking price.
Ather 450 Plus Gen 3
The Ather 450 Plus Gen 3 has also made it to the list of alternatives for the Hop OXO. It retails at Rs 1,34,147 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). Ather recently updated the 450 series with some notable tweaks and it's now called as the Gen 3. It packs a 5.4kW peak power motor mated to a 2.6kWh battery pack. The Ather 450 Plus Gen 3 offers a range of 85km and a top speed of 80kmph. It’s loaded with features like LED illumination, regen braking, touchscreen instrument console, and 16GB ROM with 2GB RAM. You also get navigation, document storage, OTA, remote location tracking and more.
The said price range also has a few petrol-powered two-wheeler options. The Hero Xpulse 200 4V is one of them as it costs Rs 1,35,978 (ex-showroom Delhi). It’s powered by a 199cc single-cylinder motor with the output rated at 18.8 bhp and 17.35 Nm. The Xpulse 200 4V is a popular off-road motorcycle, thanks to the overall package. It gets long travel front forks and a monoshock along with a single front and rear disc setup mounted on spoked wheels. It also gets a Bluetooth-compatible instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation.
Priced at Rs 1,39,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), the Ola S1 Pro can also be a viable option. It’s powered by a 8.5kW electric motor and 3.97kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 181km. The S1 Pro’s top-speed is limited to 115kmph in Hyper mode. It’s loaded with features like riding modes (Eco, Normal, Sport and Hyper), navigation, smartphone connectivity, OTA, reverse mode, cruise control and music playback.
Another petrol offering that you can consider instead of the Hop OXO X is the Yamaha Aerox 155. At Rs 1,39,300 (ex-showroom Delhi), it’s currently the most affordable sporty maxi-scooter you can buy in India. Powered by an R15 V4-sourced 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, the Aerox 155 dishes out 14.79 bhp and 13.9 Nm. It gets VVA (Variable Valve Actuation), LED illumination, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS and auto start/stop.
The Bajaj Chetak is also an option for the OXO X’s alternatives. It’s priced at Rs 1,51,910 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) and mimics the iconic Chetak with its styling. The old-school design packs a 3kWh IP67 rated lithium-ion battery paired with a 3.8kW motor. The Bajaj Chetak’s features list includes two ride modes (Sport and Eco), regenerative braking, LED illumination, and Bluetooth compatible instrument console. The Chetak’s range is limited to 95km.
