Husqvarna has revealed its new adventure-tourer motorcycle, the Norden 901. The motorcycle, which made its debut as a concept model at the EICMA show in 2019, is now ready to be launched in several international markets. The Indian launch details are unavailable at the moment, although we do not expect to see this motorcycle on our shores in the foreseeable future. Here we explain all the details about the new Husqvarna Norden 901.
Design
The Husqvarna motorcycle features a round headlight at the front, round rear-view mirrors, a semi-fairing design, a windscreen, a split-style seat, a low-slung fuel tank, and a side-slung exhaust. The motorcycle is based on the KTM 890 Adventure, and thus uses similar underpinnings and mechanical specifications as the Austrian adventure tourer. The fuel tank capacity stands at 19-litre and the company claims a range of 400km.
Features
The electronic rider aids, similar to the KTM 890 Adventure, include a switchable Bosch Cornering ABS (Street and Offroad modes), lean-angle sensitive Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), and three ride modes (Street, Rain, and Offroad). The company will offer a fourth ride mode, the Explorer, as an optional extra. Also available as an option is a Bluetooth-connectivity module that provides access to turn-by-turn navigation, phone calls, and music.
Engine
The new Norden 901 uses an 899cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 103.5bhp of maximum power and 100Nm of peak torque. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox and it benefits from a quickshifter and a Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC) mechanism.
Hardware
The Norden 901 is built around a steel trellis frame, and it uses the WP-sourced APEX suspension setup with a longer travel. The suspension tasks at the front are performed by telescopic forks while the rear uses a mono-shock setup. The motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. These tubeless spoked wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
Expected Launch
The motorcycle has been announced for select international markets. The Indian launch details are unavailable yet. However, we do not expect to see this motorcycle in our market anytime soon.
