Less than a month ago, we had told you that KTM has confirmed that the Husqvarna Vitpilen motorcycles based on the 390 and 690 platforms will soon go into production. Now, the one based on the 690 platform has been spotted testing in Europe. Although camouflaged, there are few revealing details of the upcoming Vitpilen 701.
The upcoming motorcycle is heavily clad with black bodywork and a temporary exhaust system. The wheels look straight off the Duke and will not likely make it into the production version of the bike. It will likely get more style-correct spoked wheels. As the café-racer is still in its early stages of development it shares a lot of parts from the KTM parts bin. As the testing progresses, it will lose these donor parts from the KTMs and will look similar to what they showed as a concept.
The Vitpilen 701, just like the Husqvarna Supermoto and Enduro 701, is based on the KTM 690cc liquid-cooled single that produces 66bhp and 70Nm of torque. With the typical gear, such as a suspension package from KTM's subsidiary WP and radial Brembo brakes.
It is unlikely that the Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 will reach Indian shores. However, the similarly-styled 390-based Vitpilen 401 is likely to be made in India, at the Bajaj-KTM plant in Chakan, Pune and sold here as well.
