- Husqvarna showcases Norden 901 adventure concept
- Based on KTM’s new parallel-twin platform
- Could come in production form at next year’s EICMA
Showing its prowess of producing capable off-road motorcycles, Husqvarna took the wraps off its modern-retro ADV concept, the Norden 901. The motorcycle is built around KTM’s new parallel twin platform, on which the new 790 Duke and the 890 Duke are also based.
The overall styling of the Norden 901 resembles the old-school rally machines. For instance, it features a round headlamp flanked by auxiliary lamps, a tall windscreen, aluminum-finished knuckle guards, large under-belly pan, robust-looking crash guards and engine guards. At the rear, the ADV also sports soft side panniers which convey its touring intentions. Adding to its touring credentials are dual-purpose tyres which are wrapped around spoke wheels.
Despite sporting a neo-retro styling, the Norden 901 is profoundly modern in terms of features as it gets full-LED lighting and a two-piece TFT instrument cluster. Coming to the powerplant, Husqvarna has employed the 900cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor developed by KTM. The motorcycle is equipped with upside down forks up front, sourced from WP and a monoshock at the rear.
We might see the production version of the Norden 901 at next year’s EICMA. Husqvarna is also ready to start its India operations soon, with the introduction of the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. The motorcycles will be manufacturer at Bajaj’s Chakan plant and will be sold via KTM’s dealerships.
