- Hyundai unveils e-scooter
- Can be mounted on car and charged at the same time
- Will be equipped in future Hyundai, Kia cars
Hyundai has unveiled a new electric scooter that is being positioned as a last-mile mobility vehicle.
The main highlight of this e-scooter is that it can be mounted on future Hyundai and Kia vehicles. The scooter is then automatically charged using electricity produced while driving. This vehicle was showcased as a concept at CES 2017, but now the Korean manufacturer is ready with an actual model.
This e-scooter sports a suspension at the front that offers smoother ride even on bad patches. While the concept model was front wheel drive, this model is rear wheel drive and that was done to enhance the stability and the overall safety aspect of the vehicle.
Hyundai has equipped the e-scooter with a 10.5 Ah lithium battery. This battery has sufficient charge to power the scooter for about 20kms on a single charge. A top speed of 20kmph can be achieved which isn’t bad considering this product is part of last-mile connectivity. The company plans to install regenerative braking to increase the riding range by seven per cent.
It’s still not clear if products like these will make its way to India, but something like this makes sense for a cities like Mumbai where it’s difficult to find parking spots near the destination.
