- Likely to be dubbed as the series 2
- Could get proper transparent body panels
- Teased by Ather CEO, Tarun Mehta
Ather Energy is gearing up for the launch of a new model in its electric scooter lineup. It is likely to be called the Series 2 and could bear transparent body panels all over. Ather Energy CEO, Tarun Mehta has teased the same on his social media handles and also stated that the new scooter will get proper transparent panels, unlike the translucent ones. For reference, Ather offered the Series 1 scooter with translucent panels and it was labeled as a Collector’s Editon.
That said, it is unclear at the moment whether the Ather Series 2 will use the same motor, hardware, design, battery and features as the current 450 lineup. For reference, Ather’s current lineup includes the 450S, 450X (2.9kWh) and the 450X (3.7kWh). The S trim is the most affordable model in the brand’s portfolio while the 450X (3.7kWh) is the flagship offering.
However, even with the launch of the Series 2, we think the 450S would still be on sale since it was recently launched and is the entry ticket for buyers to Ather. However, the same can’t be said about the 450X.
Speaking of the Ather 450X Series 1, it was painted in translucent black with red colour on the chassis. Ather could introduce the Series 2 scooter very soon.
