Ducati has revealed the Desert X Rally for the global markets as a more off-road-focused version of the Desert X which is also sold in India.
And to amplify its off-road potential the Ducati Desert X Rally gets lighter wheels and improved suspension setup along with a few other changes to push the envelope.
To begin with, the Rally gets 48mm KYB closed-cartride forks with adjustable compression and rebound settings. Ducati has also made sure it has lessened friction with Kashima coating on the fork tubes and a diamond-like coating on the sliders.
For the rear, it comes with a KYB shock with compression adjustability as well as preload and rebound adjustability. That said, the travel up front is 250mm while the rear has 240mm of travel. To make things easier the Ducati Desert X Rally also comes with Ohlins steering damper as standard.
The new wheels have billet aluminium hubs in the centre with radiating carbon steel spokes fitted to lightweight Excel Takasago rims which have shaved 0.5kgs off the unsprung weight. These wheels are 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear and are wrapped in Pirelli’s Scorpion Rally STR tyres.
Now Ducati has also gone ahead and made some cosmetic changes to the Desert X by adding a new high front mudguard and a new split brake line as well as machined fork clamps. It also comes with machines adjustable brake and shift levers and a new Iron Giant livery to complete the package.
All of these features are added to the standard Desert X kit. So, the Rally edition continues to come powered by the same 937cc Testatstretta engine that churns out 110bhp and 92Nm.
While Ducati will have the Desert X Rally in international shores soon, it is expected to bring the motorcycle to India only sometime in 2024.
