Exactly a year after the 790 Duke prototype left us flabbergasted, KTM has unveiled its production model at the 2017 EICMA Show in Italy. Dubbed as the ‘scalpel’, the 790 Duke is a middleweight streetfighter based on a completely new parallel-twin platform. Here is photo gallery of the KTM 790 Duke –
The sharp and aggressive styling of the 790 Duke draws inspiration from the king of hooligan bikes - the 1290 Super Duke.
The split headlamp design, angular fuel tank, minimalistic bodywork and the loud paint scheme give the 790 Duke a futuristic look.
The instrument console gets a colour TFT display which allows the rider to link his phone to access contacts and navigation apps.
The 790 Duke adheres to the Austrian manufacturer’s tradition of being based on a steel trellis frame with the engine as a stressed member.
Propelling the 790 Duke is a new 799cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, churning out 105bhp and 86Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and a quickshifter, which allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
Helping the rider keep its power in leash are rider aids like cornering ABS, traction control, four riding modes and a launch control.
The 790 Duke rides on suspension setup supplied by WP consisting of 43mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock.
Reports suggest that the 790 Duke will be manufactured in India, and will go on sale in the domestic market in 2019. Time to start saving!
