India-bound Triumph Tiger Sport 660 revealed

- Triumph Tiger Sport 660 to make global debut in coming months

- To be the most affordable Tiger model in India

- Road-biased setup includes 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends

Triumph Motorcycles has released the first images of the upcoming Tiger Sport 660 ahead of its global debut. The exact unveiling details of this new variant of the Tiger adventure tourer family are not available yet, although Triumph Motorcycles has confirmed that it ‘will be launching globally in the coming months’. The British two-wheeler maker has released the images of the prototype motorcycle that gives a detailed look at the styling of the product.

In terms of design, the new Triumph Tiger Sport 660 will feature a semi-fairing setup with a tall windscreen. Unlike the current Tiger series, the Tiger Sport 660 will be a road-biased product. The motorcycle will feature an under-belly exhaust, 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends, and a single-piece saddle. The hardware on the motorcycle will include upside-down front forks, a rear mono-shock, dual discs on the front wheel and a single disc at the back.

The details about the mechanical specifications are scarce, although we could see a Trident 660-based motor on the new Tiger Sport 660. The 660cc, inline-three, liquid-cooled engine on the Trident 660 is tuned to produce 80bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm. The power and torque output numbers on the Tiger Sport 660 could be different than the Trident 660.

The India launch timeline for the Tiger Sport 660 is not available yet. We could see the new iteration of the adventure-tourer in our market by late 2021 or early 2022. Once launched, the new Triumph Tiger Sport 660 will rival the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT in the Indian market. Triumph Motorcycles should place the new Tiger Sport 660 well under the Tiger 850 Sport. Thus, we expect the new model to arrive in the Rs 8-9 lakh (ex-showroom) price range.
