The Vespa GTS300 has been launched in the Indonesian market at IDR 165 million (Rs 8.37 lakh). Powered by a 278cc engine, the GTS 300 is currently the most powerful Vespa, and is expected to go on sale in India before the end of this year.
True to the Italian marque’s heritage, the Vespa GTS 300 offers a perfect blend of vintage style and modern technology. The round chrome-rimmed headlamp and classic body lines resemble the old-school European scooters from 1950s, giving it a retro appeal that few other scooters can match.
The Vespa GTS 300 also gets the punch to match its looks, courtesy a 278cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine. This liquid-cooled fuel-injected unit delivers 21bhp and 22Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. The GTS 300 rides on 12-inch wheels, both of which get a 220mm disc brake for good stopping power. It also gets a traction control system and ABS as standard.
Vespa had previously announced that the GTS 300 will be their next launch for the Indian market, and it is currently undergoing homologation at the ARAI. The GTS 300 will be sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU), which means that we can expect it to attract some heavy custom duties.
