Indian Motorcycles, known for its cruisers, unveiled a ‘street tracker’ motorcycle called the FTR 1200 at the Intermot recently. The bike is likely to arrive in India sometime next year, until then you can ogle at the Indian FTR 1200 in this photo gallery.
The FTR 1200 derives its flat-tracker styling from the FTR 750 competition bike.
The bike is available in three variants; standard and 1200 S and a Race Replica version that is based on the 1200 S.
While the base variant gets an all-black paint job, the 1200 S gets gold-finished forks with a grey/red and black/grey colour scheme.
The 1200 S Race Replica sports a black and red paint similar to the FTR 750 bike. The trellis frame and rear monoshock also get a red colour.
The FTR 1200 gets a full-LED headlamp and tail lamp flanked by LED turn indicators.
While the standard bike gets a 4-inch analogue instrument pod, the 1200 S gets a 4.3-inch LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity.
The 1200 S also gets a lean-sensitive stability control system, traction control, wheelie control and three ride modes; Sport, Standard and Rain.
The 13-litre fuel tank on the Indian FTR 1200 is situated under the seat rather the the conventional position.
The bike rides on a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel shod with dual-sport Dunlop DTR-3 tyres.
Braking is done by twin 320mm discs for the front and a 265mm single disc at the rear.
Meanwhile, suspension duties are handled by 43mm inverted front forks and an offset monoshock at the rear.
The bike is powered by a 1203cc, V-twin engine that produces 120bhp and 115Nm of torque that is mated to a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch.
Indian Motorcycles is likely to launch the FTR 1200 in India sometime next year to compete with the BMW R Nine T Scrambler, Ducati Scrambler 1100 and upcoming Triumph Scrambler 1200.
