- Uses an air-cooled engine
- Features digital instrument cluster
- Likely to arrive in the second half of 2023
Piaggio India is reportedly working on a larger displacement Vespa scooter that will be specifically developed for the Indian market. While the official details for this model are not available yet, a test mule of the scooter has been spotted and it revealed several styling elements of this upcoming product. As seen in the spy picture, this India-spec model will draw design cues from the international-spec GTS 300 maxi-scooter.
Further, the spy image also shows a fully-digital instrument cluster. However, the finer details are not available yet. Now, since this will be a higher displacement scooter, the feature list will also include ABS tech. As the rear uses a drum brake setup, this scooter will get a single-channel ABS.
In terms of mechanical specifications, similar to the rest of the Vespa scooters, this upcoming model will use an air-cooled setup. However, the engine size is significantly bigger than the 125cc and 150cc motors on the existing scooters. Do note that the international-spec GTS 300 uses a liquid-cooled motor.
The launch details are not available yet. However, this product appears to be production ready and thus we expect to see this scooter in the Indian market in the second half of 2023.
