- TriumphRoadster 250 and Triumph Scrambler 250 listed
- Likely to be more affordable versions
- Could also be an old listing on the website
We’ve come across the Triumph Scrambler 250 and Roadster 250 names on the British brand’s official website. These have been listed alongside the Roadster 400 and Scrambler 400, which we think are the same as the recently launched Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. So, a potential pair of quarter-litre offerings to cater to an even larger audience could also be in the works.
If Triumph does launch the 250cc twins, you can expect it to be priced notably lower than the 400s. Moreover, the styling and design bits could be borrowed from the current Speed and Scrambler models. Currently, the 250cc motorcycles segment in India has the KTM 250 Duke, Suzuki Gixxer 250, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, Dominar 250, the Pulsar 250 twins, and a few more names. However, the retro-styled category in the 250cc class barely has any names. So, Triumph could possibly look forward to taking this opportunity. That said, these names could also have been listed way before the 400s were even launched.
The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are the most affordable and smallest motorcycles in the company’s stable. The brand partnered with Bajaj for the development of these new 400cc twins. Since its launch, the Speed 400 has received a good response as Triumph offered an introductory price of Rs. 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This undercuts the recently launched Harley-Davidson X440 base model by a few thousand rupees. However, Triumph will hike the Speed 400’s price to Rs. 2.33 lakh once the first 10,000 bikes are booked.
The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are both powered by a 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm. It’s linked to a six-speed gearbox. Triumph has offered LED illumination, dual-channel ABS, traction control, and a semi-digital instrument console on both bikes. Both bikes ride on USD front forks and a monoshock and get disc brakes at both ends.
