- Yamaha likely to bring back RZ350
- Applies for a trademark in Japan
- Yamaha India may relaunch the RX brand
Yamaha is planning to resurrect one of their iconic bikes – the RZ350. The company applied for a trademark last month and was granted a few days later.
According to a report, the Japanese brand has also trademarked the RZ250 simultaneously. From these developments, it is clear that Yamaha intends to revive the names of some two-stroke motorcycles. However, in the world of stringent emission norms, these brand names, if launched, are likely to be used for new and modern motorcycles.
In fact, the Indian arm of Yamaha has also shown its intentions to bring back the famous RX brand to India. But it made clear that this will happen in the next few years and won’t launch something like the RX100. Instead, it would use the RX name on a new bike – possibly for 200-250cc motorcycles. The bikes in these segments offer good performance and are not priced high. So it makes sense for an RX brand to come back in this segment.
