John Hopkins to take year-long break from racing

John 'Hopper' Hopkins might not be familiar to a large section of motorcycle enthusiasts, but the talented racer has been racing in the World Superbike series along with the likes of Max Biaggi. He has announced that he will take a year-long break from racing in 2013 to let his injuries heal completely.

It isn't easy for a racer to take a break from racing; not only does it mean that you lose touch with racing, it also makes your future unclear if the person who fills your shoes gets better results, either in terms of sponsorship or race results. Hopkins is forcing himself into the sabbatical so that the injured hip and hand can recover. Things aren't all bad for Hopper, though; Suzuki plans a comeback to MotoGP in 2014, and we're sure Suzuki will be glad to give him a ride in the top echelon of the sport once more. And we'll be glad to see him there, too.
