The jury round for the Indian Motorcycle of the Year or IMOTY 2018 drew to a close on 4 December. IMOTY is the most prestigious award that a new motorcycle can receive in India. Voted upon by India’s top 16 motorcycle journalists who review and test motorcycles as part of their daily routine, IMOTY 2018 marks the award’s 11th year of existence.
There were 20 new motorcycles that were launched in the calendar year of 2017, but only 12 made it to the jury shortlist. The shortlist included Hero Glamour, Suzuki Intruder 150, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Yamaha FZ25, Benelli 302R, KTM 390 Duke, Bajaj Dominar 400, Triumph Bonneville Bobber, Harley Davidson Street Rod, Triumph Street Triple, Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin and MV Agusta Brutale 800.
The IMOTY jury, which consists of representatives from eight member magazines as well as one individual juror, judged the finalists across a variety of parameters such as styling, value for money, technical innovation, build quality, fuel economy, performance, practicality, and above all, suitability for Indian riding conditions.
The winner for IMOTY 2018 will be announced on 13 December 2017.
