- Design patent leaked
- Likely to get swappable batteries
- Could have multiple battery units for extended range
Kawasaki seems to be working on a new dirt bike but this time the Japanese two-wheeler maker is planning to go electric. That said, this isn’t a new concept since Suzuki too is dipping its toes in the same stream along with other brands.
Now, the design patent for the Kawasaki electric dirt bike has been leaked and it reveals a bunch of details. The electric Kwacker could get swappable battery setup and that too more than one unit. This would allow the bike to have more range whenever needed. The latter is revealed in a one of the drawings that shows the current flow and whether it needs to be sent through multiple batteries or a single unit.
Apart from that, Kawasaki is already a part of the consortium that includes Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki. It focuses on the battery swapping technology and its development along with advancement in the future. So, the brand could benefit from the said association.
Moreover, Kawasaki has unveiled a couple of electric motorcycles recently – Ninja and Z e-1. The duo is on sale in the international market. But the upcoming Kawasaki dirt bike seems to be build on a brand new platform.
