-Removed from the official website
-Likely to be replaced by a new model by end of 2024
-It was one of the best VFM sport tourers in the market
Kawasaki India has taken off the Ninja 1000SX from its official website, suggesting that the model is currently discontinued. We reached out to the company to double check this and they have confirmed that the Ninja 1000SX is currently unavailable in India. While we are yet to get a word on the reason behind this move, our sources tell us that there is likelihood of a new Ninja 1000SX in the works and it may be launched by the end of this year.
We’d tested the Ninja 1000SX and found the sports-tourer to be one of the best value-for-money propositions in the market. The party piece of the bike is the inline-four engine that produces 142bhp and 111Nm peak torque. We loved it for its smoothness, incredible tractability and the lovely inline-four sound that always made us smile.
Complementing the engine was the chassis that lent it predictability around corners and a sense of composure over varying road conditions while riding at high speeds in a straight line. It gets ride modes to temper the power delivery and the safety net of traction control and ABS.
That said, the Ninja 1000SX has gotten slightly long in the tooth and needed more up-to-date electronics, an E20-compliant engine and perhaps sharper styling like you see in the new Ninja ZX-6R. We could see the 2025 Ninja 1000SX get these features and more.
On the side lines, if you are in the market for a Japanese sports-tourer and manage to find a dealer with existing stock of the Ninja 1000SX, this might be a good time to strike a lucrative deal.
