Kawasaki has pulled the covers off the new Ninja 300 and boy is it a looker. The Japanese bike maker has gone in for a much sharper styling as compared to the Ninja 250 with a new faring wrap. Kawasaki has also confirmed that the bike has been constructed using new steel tube which is more rigid than its predecessor, allowing for better dynamics.
While the engine maybe a longer stroke version of the one powering the Ninja 250R it is as good as new with new pistons, lower compression and a new cylinder head. This has resulted in the bike having an output of 38bhp and 27Nm of torque. The new 300 will also get dual throttle-body fuel injection and new suspension setting along with a 140 section rear tyre for better handling. The optional extras list includes a slipper clutch and ABS.
According to our friends at Overdrive, it is likely that Bajaj will phase out the 250R in the Indian market by June next year in favour of the new 300 without raising the price too much.
BikeWale has also come across a report from an Indonesian blog which says that Kawasaki might be working on a naked version of the Ninja 300. The blog has released a sketch which they claim shows that it will get a new tank, seat, exhaust and design cues inspired from the Z800 and Z1000. However, it will use the same mill from the faired version. We will keep you updated with all the details as soon as they emerge.
