- Patent design leaked!
- Will feature a hybrid power unit
- Likely to get a 1.4kWh battery with a 451cc parallel-twin engine
Kawasaki recently unveiled the Z 7 Hybrid internationally and it seems that the Japanese bikemaker is now working on a new Versys hybrid as well. Its patent design has been leaked on the web, revealing information about its powertrain and other bits.
From the leaked patent file, we have learned that the Versys Hybrid could borrow the same setup as the Z 7 Hybrid. So, it’s likely to get a 9kW motor, a 1.4kWh battery and a 451cc parallel-twin engine. Even the cooling system shown in the leaked images is similar to the one Kawasaki uses for the Z 7 Hybrid.
The setup could enhance the bike’s touring capacity as the rider can switch from fully electric to ICE once the battery runs out of current. For reference, the 451cc parallel-twin engine makes 69bhp. We expect features like manual or automatic gear shift options, full LED illumination, a digital dash and more.
As of now, the Kawasaki Versys Hybrid seems in its early stages of development and could take some time before it is officially teased followed by a global debut.
