- Equipped with a faulty alternator
- Could cause an engine stall
- Recalled in the USA
Kawasaki has announced a recall for approximately 991 units of the Ninja ZX-4RR. The Japanese supersport seems to have been equipped with a faulty alternator. This could result in the engine stalling, causing a risk to the rider too. That said, all the affected bikes are from the USA market only. These are the KRT editions manufactured between 11 January and 29 March of this year.
The Kawasaki ZX-4RR was recently launched in various international markets including USA and Asia. It gets a 399cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with four valves per cylinder and a Ram Air intake system. It belts out 76bhp at 14,500rpm and 37.6Nm at 12,500rpm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The setup also benefits from a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.
On the design front, the ZX-4RR gets a sharp fascia housing the split LED headlight. It resembles the ZX-25RR and looks very aggressive. On the feature front, the ZX-4RR comes with full-LED lighting, a Bluetooth-compatible 4.3-inch colour-TFT display with Kawasaki Rideology smartphone application, four riding modes (Sports, Road, Rain, and Rider), two power modes (full and low), a three-level traction control system, and ABS.
Its hardware comprises a trellis frame, 37mm USD Showa SFF-BP front forks, and a rear mono-shock. The front springs are adjustable for preload only, while the rear shock gets compression, rebound, and preload adjustments.
Kawasaki India might not launch the ZX-4RR anytime soon in India as it’s an expensive motorcycle for our market. However, it does offer the Ninja 300 and 400 here.
