- Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R rumours surface
- Speculated to be based on the existing Ninja ZX-25R
- It won’t be introduced in India
Online rumours coming from Japan suggest that Kawasaki is developing a new supersport, likely to be called the Ninja ZX-4R. As the name suggests, it will be the bigger sibling of the much-hyped quarter-litre machine, the Ninja ZX-25R that was globally unveiled in July 2020.
The reason for the ZX-25R grabbing a lot of headlines is its engine that, despite being a small 250cc unit, gets four cylinders in an inline fashion. As per the rumours, the ZX-4R will also have the same cylinder configuration. In fact, its engine is said to be a larger version of the 25R’s motor with a bigger bore, tweaked piston and crank, and an updated ECU. All the changes will definitely result in higher power and torque figures as compared to the 250cc bike.
If it turns out to be a reality, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R will be a unique low-displacement, high-revving inline-four screamer, just like its smaller sibling. Needless to say, it won’t come to India given how expensive it will be as an overall package. At present, the entry-level Kawasaki offering available in India is the Ninja 300 that costs Rs 3.18 lakh (ex-showroom).
